FRONT AND REAR ROCKERS REDESIGN

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual in-person competition had been cancelled. We were in unique situation where we had the opportunity to work on the same car for an extra year. To make the most of our time in the pandemic, we went over problems in the current design and made improvements where we could. I had the privilege to help redesign our front and rear rockers on our suspension. Below you can view my final design presentation with the help of my teammate!

I was a part of my team's first ever Vehicle Dynamics sub-team. It was a rough start for our team, but a great learning experience. We worked on creating simple starting scripts for the various sub-systems: tire model, powertrain, course model, acceleration, braking, cornering, and points. These basic scripts are the foundation that the following year's team would develop further. This included a working class script that acts as the car and the vessel for all the different sub-systems. I was mainly assisting with the tire model where I analyzed data from the Tire Testing Consortium. I plotted the data where there are slip angles of 0 degrees to simplify the model. Then, a cornering script would decide what speed the car should take the corner at based on the tire data. Here are some of the scripts I wrote and helped write.
